Defective/Discontinued Shingles are shingles that wear out too soon typically due to a faulty manufacturing process. Because they are no longer made nor available, there aren't any matching shingles to perform a true matching repair when replacing individual, or select shingles. You can see from the photo above that replacing a wind or hail damaged shingle with a different style tab isn't a good solution in regards to fitment nor aesthetics and most insurance policy guidelines would agree with you. While a matching color may not be necessary to qualify you for a full roof replacement, matching “kind and quality” does require most insurance companies to pay for a complete roof replacement. This is due to the only matching shingles being discontinued, no longer available, to make matching select repairs. Call us today for more information or for a free inspection to see if you have a "chalet" or "faux" architectural roofing system that may be defective and/or discontinued.
